Every chart is a question answered with data, not a pretty pair of lines. All of them carry a rolling correlation, a lag test and the text that explains when the relationship tends to hold — and when it breaks.
Every series comes from the body that publishes it — a central bank, a treasury, a statistical agency — and never from an aggregator. The origin, the licence and the time of the last collection are shown on each indicator.
How each index is built, which series go into it, which exchange rate is used, what was left out and why: all of it is written out on the methodology page, in plain prose.
Correlations are computed on returns, not on levels, precisely to avoid producing a spurious relationship. And no text in the system claims that one series determines another.
When a source cannot be displayed for licensing reasons, the chart is marked as pending, with the reason. Nothing is filled in with an estimate or with data of doubtful origin.
Institutions that publish the series used by the Radar. Collection runs through each one's public interfaces, respecting their terms of use and redistribution licences.
